FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (4-23-08)
LAKE STATES TAPPI – ENERGY FORUM”
In Partnership with Focus on Energy

The Paper Industry faces many economic challenges from competition across the world. Local
papermills are focused on increasing productivity and reducing costs. Paper manufacturing is
driven by the cost of raw materials, labor, and energy. Unfortunately, it is difficult to reduce raw
material and labor costs. With global energy costs sky-rocketing, any gains in energy efficiency
in the papermill goes right to the bottom line.

Please join Lake States TAPPI and Wisconsin Focus on Energy on Wednesday, May 14, 8:00 am
at the Best Western Bridgewood Conference Center, Neenah, WI, for the 2008 TAPPI Energy
Forum. Presenters from the Department of Energy, Wisconsin Paper Council, CleanTech
Partners, Focus on Energy, and many local Papermills will be discussing opportunities for
improving energy efficiency in the paper industry today. The purpose of the Forum is to
exchange ideas and create an open discussion on how Wisconsin's Paper Industry can implement
energy saving ideas.

For registration information, please visit the Lake States TAPPI website at www.lakestates.org,
call Clark Schabo at Lake States TAPPI, 920-734-5073 or register on site at the Bridgewood
Conference Center on May 14, at 8:00 am. Registration is open to anyone interested in learning
about opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the paper industry.
